You are what your deep, driving desire is.
As your desire is, so is your will.
As your will is, so is your deed.
As your deed is, so is your destiny.

Yoga is an ancient Indian art/technique and store of wisdom that arose from the search for physical well being, mental health and spiritual growth/realisation. Today, what we know as yoga, are the asanas or postures that bring a total sense of well-ness and calm to people who practise them. But ‘yoga’ actually means much more than just the postures. The word ‘yoga’ also means ‘to yoke’ - to yoke one’s desires and ever changing mind to reach a state of calm and inner peace which can be brought about by practicing all the 8 limbs (postures being one of the 8 limbs) of yoga.

Sumati Nair, originally from South India, is a trained Iyengar yoga teacher, who obtained her internationally recognised diploma from the well known, Iyengar Yoga Institute in Amsterdam. She holds regular classes in Iyengar yoga in Leiden. Besides this, Sumati also has two post-graduate degrees in Indian philosophy. She conducts short courses and teaches yoga philosophy at different yoga teacher training programmes at yoga centres in Amsterdam and Utrecht. What she enjoys very much is the possibility to combine the precision and alignment of the Iyengar yoga style with an insight into the deeper dimensions of yoga philosophy.

Sumati welcomes you to join her in her search for that unique balance between body, breath and mind that yields a sense of heightened awareness and centeredness in oneself.
