Opening hours holidays 2018

Yoga Vidya is closed during the following holidays: Eastern Sunday 1 & Monday 2 April, Kingsday Friday 27 April, Ascension day Thursday 10 May, Pentecost zondag 20 & maandag 21 mei, Christmas Tuesday 25 & Wednesday 26 December, New Year Monday 1 January 2019.

Moon-days in the Ashtanga tradition

Both full and new moon days are observed as yoga holidays in the Ashtanga Yoga tradition. The day you rest is the day of your regular practice time nearest the new or full moon. This means there will be NO morning Mysore classes on these days.

Description of the classes

Sivananda Yoga has an holistic approach where tension and relaxation alternate each other. These classes are in the tradition of Yoga Vidya, a successful organization in Germany that is spreading through Europe. A typical yoga class will have the Sun Salutations, 12 basis asanas, two breathing exercises and a deep final relaxation. The basic classes give you the original Rishikesh series with more explanation, regular Sivananda is intermediate and the Energetic classes are more advanced.
Ashtanga Mysore is the traditional way of practicing Ashtanga yoga in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois, where the series are practiced in your own pace in the early morning. Vinyasa flow originates from Ashtanga, but the sequence may vary each time.
Yin Yoga is a softer practice with a deep effect on the tissues and nervous system.

Yoga Teacher Training

The 2-year Yoga teacher training will start again in January 2019 and is a great way to give more depth to your yoga practice. Some yoga experience is required but you do not need to be an advanced student to start the training. An open mind is more important than physical flexibility.


Satsang is part of the practice of Bhakti yoga, the yoga of devotion. Meditation, mantra singing, readings and a light ritual are performed during the Satsang. Everyone is welcome, including children. No experience is required and the participation is free.
